Filming in Italy
As in any other country, filming on private premises requires the permission of the owner. Filming on government property will require establishing which Ministry or other institution is in charge and obtaining their permission (this will often take considerable time and should be done well in advance).
Producers will find the use of local bilingual assistance invaluable.
ROME
If you are planning to film in Rome, you will find all the information and contact details on the Cultura Roma website, including an application form that you must fill in (under "Request Authorisation for Filming").
Note: the application should be sent in well in advance of the filming dates as approval is not immediate.

If you are planning to film in Milan, advice is available from the British Consulate-General in Milan. Contact the press office on +39 02 72300210 or e-mail: CommunicationsMilan@fco.gov.uk. Administrative costs in Milan are similar to those in Rome.
