HM The Queen

Her Majesty the Queen has visited Italy four times - in 1951 (as The Princess Elizabeth, before her coronation), in May 1961, in October 1980 and in October 2000.

His Royal Highness Charles, Prince of Wales, has paid several official and private visits to Italy. In April 2009, Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall visited Rome and Venice. In October 2004, His Royal Highness had visited Turin and Piedmont; his most recent official visit previous to this was in November 2002.

Other members of the Royal Family often make private visits to Italy.

President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi paid a State visit to the United Kingdom from 15 to 17 March 2005.

Previous State visits by Presidents of the Italian Republic to Britain have been made by Presidents Gronchi on 13 May 1958, Saragat on 22 April 1969, and Cossiga on 23 October 1990.
