Think Green: events, awards and communications
Some of the communication initiatives and events carried out by the Think Green Group:
10 November 2008: the British Ambassador plants trees at San Giovanni Rotondo, in Puglia
14 October 2008: the British Ambassador Edward Chaplin and the Deputy Consul General in Milan Steven Anderson plant trees at the Andersen International School in Milan;
28 July 2008: a Green Cocktail takes place at the Embassy;
June 2008: for the first time, the celebrations for HM The Queen’s Birthday are marked by the offsetting of its carbon footprint;
28 January 2008: the British Embassy in co-operation with Radio Rai 2 hosts a special edition of Caterpillar: the Energy saving RadioCocktail "M'illumino di meno";
December 2007-January 2008: the British Embassy reaches an agreement with ATAC, the Rome public transport company, obtaining discounts on tickets for its staff, thus encouraging them to use public transport more;
September 2007: the British Embassy, in co-operation with the British Council, organises the 15th edition of the Italy-UK Pontignano bilateral Conference on climate change and presents the results of the survey "2037: forecast for a changing world";
July 2007: the British Embassy and the British Council ask to SWG to carry out an Italy-UK comparative survey on the climate change issue entitled "2037: forecast for a changing world" [sample of 2.000 Italian and British citizens aged between 18 e and 35];
June 2007: the Think Green is awarded by Sodalitas on the occasion of the 5th edition of the "Sodalitas Social Award", Public Administration section;
June 2007: presentation of the Think Green project to staff of other diplomatic missions in Rome;
2 April 2007: "The challenges of climate": series of conferences on energy efficiency organised in co-operation with the Comune di Roma and WWF Italia;
February 2007: Support for the "M'illumino di meno" campaign by the radio programme Caterpillar on RAI Radio DUE;
December 2006: Presentation of the Think Green project to the British consulates in Italy;
November 2006: COMPA 2007 – International Exhibition of Public Communication, held in Bologna, Italy – speech to the conference "Social Responsibility of the Public Administration: communication between subsidiarity and participation", promoted by: Comune di Roma and Associazione "Comunicazione Pubblica", in co-operation with Sodalitas;
July 2006: Article on Think Green published on "News & Views", a Foreign Office monthly magazine distributed to British diplomatic missions around the world;
April 2006: Think Green receives the "Ambiente e Sviluppo" Award, section Public Administration, from the Italian Ministry of Environment;
July-August 2005: the British Embassy organises the Photo Exhibition "NorthSouthEastWest – a 360-degree view of climate Change " the Civic Zoological Museum of Rome, in co-operation with the Comune di Roma and the British Council;
March 2005: the British Embassy funds an “energetic diagnosis” for its two buildings in Rome, with the purpose of introducing energy conservation measures. The document drafted by the company will provide the guidelines towards a new policy for restructuring the two buildings;
February 2005: Support for the "M'illumino di meno" campaign by the radio programme Caterpillar on RAI Radio DUE.
